Library / Media Center, Fresno, California
This $1.1 million contract was with the Fresno
Unified School District. The construction site was located within
the most populated campus of the Fresno Unified School District.
Constant communication was required with site school officials
to maintain fire access and security for the campus. Demolition
of the existing site included the removal and backfill of an old
basement structure. The mechanical design included in-slab ductwork.
The 6000 square foot structure is a combination of structural
steel and wood framing. Architectural features include plaster,
brick veneer and exposed concrete columns. In addition, the project
includes the construction of asphalt playcourts, a baseball backstop
/ diamond and a parking lot. The schedule completion date was
mandatory as the district had a two day 'window' for the relocation
of library equipment. The contract was complete the first week
in August 1999.
