Repair/Repave Shelldance Road and Sewer in Pacifica, CA

JI Garcia Construction, Inc. was a Subcontractor to Allright Diversified Services, Inc. on this two hundred sixty-six thousand dollar project at Pacifica, CA. The project consisted of pulverizing and repairing 14,800 square feet of road that lead to the Nursery from Hwy 1 and removal and replacement of various clean-outs, manholes and sewer lines. JIG contracted with a Civil Engineer to design the new sewer system along with establishing the vertical and horizontal controls for the sewer line. The replacement of the sewer lines consisted of removing and or capping of approximately 920 lineal feet of 6" VCP with new 6" HDPE pipe. This work was completed along a very curvy and steep slope hill. Due to the dangers of trenching on such a steep hill JIG decided to install 265 lineal feet of 6" SDR 17 sewer pipe using a "trenchless method" via pipe bursting from a clean-out at the top of the hill to a manhole in the street. We replaced seven manholes to different depths starting at 4 feet to 10 feet before paving. Rebuilding this road created a problem with the fact that it was the only access road to the nursery and the tenant who lived alongside. The road was build in stages to accommodate traffic. This project was completed two weeks before deadline and in time to accommodate the beginning of the tour season.
