Aviation Maintenance Training Facility, Lemoore Naval Air Station NAMTRA

This $3.6 million 'Best Value' contract was with the EFA West. The NAMTRA for the F-18 'Super Hornet' is a 25,000 square foot structural steel and masonry building. The time for completion was eleven months with no margin for delay. J.I. Garcia instituted a Partnering agreement between the EFA West, NAMTRA, ROICC and Boeing. In addition, the 'Partnering Team' issued joint letter agreements to all J.I. Garcia subcontractors to insure total involvement of the 'Project Team'. J.I. Garcia employed a third party Quality Control Manager to insure compliance with the specifications on this fast track project. J.I. Garcia accomplished schedule compliance with thorough communication between all parties applied to short intervals of the project schedule.

The building is constructed on extensive engineered fill due to unstable site soils and groundwater. The structure is primarily supported by steel members constructed over a concrete foundation. Architectural features include standing seam metal roofing, aluminum wall panels and plaster accenting. Wall construction consists of light gauge metal framing. There are significant mechanical and electrical systems involved due to the final usage of this facility.
