 Demolish
Wherry Housing Units - Monterey Bay
This $3.4 million contract was with the EFA West. The demolition
was accomplished within an active military housing neighborhood,
requiring close coordination with facility housing personnel. The
contract included 4 demolition phases. Prior to demolition, full
interior abatement was completed to remove asbestos and lead products.
J.I. Garcia maintained full time, third party monitoring and testing
for environmental compliance.The scope for demolition included removal
of 230 Housing Units, carports, sidewalks and roads. The work also
included site clearing and removal of underground sewer, water,
gas and electrical. Dirt import was necessary to cover the voids
left by the removal of footings, roads, etc. Final touches included
fine grading and hydroseeding. This project was completed one month
before the scheduled completion date. J.I. Garcia Construction,
Inc. received an "Outstanding" evaluation by the Department
of the Navy - Resident Officer in Charge of Construction (ROICC).
